Stealing Heaven From The Lips Of God

Iconoclastic, underground Scottish writer, artist and musician, Dee Rimbaud pours his scorn upon politics, religion, television, televangelists and anything that takes his fancy, whilst waxing lyrical about the lyrical, the mystical, the cyclical, the magical and the plain bloody wonderful. Watch out, because he'll charm the birds out of the trees, and if you let him, he'll steal heaven from the lips of God!

Melted Rubber Humans

Well, as mentioned in my last blog entry, I've been very busy with creative projects. I was deliberately vague about what they are, as I'm superstitious about announcing anything before it has come to fruition. I'm still beavering away at these various projects and will remain vague until everything is signed, sealed and delivered (watch this space).

There is one thing though that I've been working on that I'm happy to spout off about. It's my latest hobby, and is in danger of becoming an obsession. About a year ago, when I was living in Isla Cristina in Spain I started playing about with a programme called Adobe Audition and made my first rudimentary pieces of music. Then when I got back to Glasgow, my good friend Rikki showed me round Sony Acid 5.0 and I was totally hooked. So that's what I've been doing this last wee while; and now I'm making stuff I actually like listening to myself. I've road tested my tunes with my friends and then at a party. So they've got the thumbs up and I feel ready to go public.

So, there is now about two hours worth of my music up at VIRB and there are six songs up at MySpace (also, you can download the tunes for free at both sites).

My stuff is a blend of 60's psychedelic, 70's post-punk and 90's techno. There are no influences whatsoever from the 1980's, which I consider a musical black-hole, dominated by Thatcher-chic nazi music.... Duran Duran, Visage, Kajagoogoo, Paul Young, Jason Donovan, Wet Wet Wet, T'pau, Stock Aitken & Waterhouse (I could go on, but I'm making myself ill just remembering, curse you Maggie Thatcher!)

Anyways, I'm working under the moniker, Melted Rubber Humans (a band that isn't a band, just a man and a computer) and my influences are early Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, Faust, Can, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, early Human League, Throbbing Gristle, This Heat, Public Image Limited, early Siouxsie & The Banshees, Psychic TV, Underworld, Fini Tribe, The Orb, Orbital, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, William Orbit, Transglobal Underground, Leftfield, Laurent Garnier, Nova Nova. So, if you like any of them, chances are you'll dig something by The Melted Rubber Humans.
